Plain Language Summary
Section 508 requires all federal agencies' electronic systems to be accessible. Applies to any company selling software or technology to the federal government. 2017 refresh aligned with WCAG 2.0 AA.
When developing, procuring, maintaining, or using electronic and information technology, each Federal department or agency shall ensure, unless an undue burden would be imposed, that the electronic and information technology allows individuals with disabilities to have access to and use of information and data that is comparable to the access to and use of the information and data by individuals without disabilities, whether they are Federal employees or members of the public seeking information from a Federal department or agency.
